It's so refreshing to see a show like this... Something light, a solid display of family love, nice action sequences and well-timed moments of laughter.
I watched this a month ago and I couldn't have watched it at a better time. Hehe. It came after watching a very dark crime show about serial criminals and stuff like that. You can now imagine how refreshing it felt to follow that up with a show of this category.
Drama: Family: The Unbreakable Bond.
Genre: Action, Thriller, Comedy, Drama.
Network: tvN
Episodes: 12
Release Date: April 17 - May 23, 2023
Jang Hyuk who took up the major male role for this show is one of those actors in Korea who I know will always deliver in any role he plays. Most of the characters he has taken up have always been geared towards action. And he executes each role nicely, like a true professional.
His performance in this is also the same. He plays the role of an efficient secret agent who has to keep everything about his job a secret from his family. While doing that perfectly, he also tries to play his role in his family to a tee. Interestingly, his wife who he met years ago in Vietnam before they both moved back to Korea also has a very dark past which she's ready to keep a secret forever.
You know how these things work. How long can you keep something a secret? It always gets to a point where snippets of that secret will start to get exposed until all the lies get blown out of proportion. Hehe. And, when that happens between people that have been married for so many years, what would be the next step?
Think about that for a while...
Nope! They are not gonna kill eachother. Lol
It sure gives the popular Hollywood Mr & Mrs Smith's vibe. While I thoroughly enjoyed some of the comical side of the show, the best bit for me is the serious side which was geared towards action. Hehe.
The action scenes are also choreographed masterfully. It makes me wish the show was a full-blown action series. Nonetheless, a little bit of laughter and well toned down family comical moments is never a bad idea.
Before I draw the Curtain on this, I need to give a special mention to the child actor who played Jang Hyuk's daughter. Wow!
I did my research and found out that this kid is only 7, yet she got entrusted with such an important role in the show... Wow... How did she manage to remember all her lines?
What's even more interesting is her facial expression and acting when she isn't saying anything. If I'm not mistaken, the only people that have more screen time than her in the entire show are her parents, the two major characters.
That speaks volumes about her.
Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma.
