Brave Citizen (2023): Meow!!!

in kdrama •  8 months ago

I mentioned before that I watched a lot of TV shows and Movies during the Christmas holiday.

My watchlist is still packed with lots of them which I will hopefully find time to watch as we take a deeper dive into this New Year. I can say the same about the ones I've already watched. I checked the list and noticed there are already 7 Kdramas in the list which I have to review within the next couple of weeks.

Let's dive into the one we have for today;

Movie: Brave Citizen

Genre: Action, Comedy.

Release Date: October 25, 2023

Runtime: 113 min.

Country: South Korea

This Movie, just like a lot of movies I've seen about bullying, especially when it's done by teenagers on school premises, makes me wonder if we will ever see the end of bullying in this day and time. Do you know what's crazy about bullying? A lot of these bullies get away with their act and the bullied end up living with the traumatic experience for the rest of their life.

Bullying in a school environment is hard to understand. School authorities turn a blind eye and turn deaf ears to it. Teachers ignore the act, especially when the bully is from a very rich family. Parents also play a big role in allowing their kids to grow into bullies. As for the bullied, a lot of them are weak folks who can't stand the ground or land a punch in a 1v1 fight.

The bullies in this show messed around with everyone. Even the teachers were not safe in their hands, especially those who were in the school for a stipulated period as part-time teachers.

Well, there always comes a time when bullies meet their match and there is something dramatic about storylines built around that.

You know those moments in movies when bullies get bullied by someone ready to stand up for the smaller folks? I'm all-in for those moments and it was done satisfactorily in this movie when a new contract teacher got into the school.

The new teacher was a promising boxer during her school days and almost made it to the professional boxing level, but shit happened. She hung her gloves and decided to dive into teaching. Her goal is to secure a permanent teaching spot and to do that, she was advised to maintain tunnel vision and distance herself from pissing off the bullies in the school she landed her contract teaching job.

The lady tried her best to turn a blind eye, but there is only so much you can ignore if you are someone who can stand your ground in a brawl. She still wanted to secure a permanent teaching role in the school. So, she can't go about beating students up. She decided to do something better and way more dramatic.

Yeah! We all love when someone is kicking ass while wearing a costume and concealing his/her true identity in a mask. That's exactly what this teacher did. She got herself a very cool costume and that was the beginning of an adventure.

You've got to check this out.

It was refreshing to see the fight choreography for this show. The boxing move of the lead character and the MMA move of the top bully is legit. I particularly like how the main character wasn't turned into a superhuman who beats 10 people up without taking a hit.

Nah! She got a fair dose of hit from the bully, but she sure whooped a lot of ass with her punches.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.
