This Kdrama is about Shi-Jin (Song Joong-Ki) who is the captain of the special forces. He catches a motorcycle thief with Sergeant Major Dae-Young (Jin Goo). The thief is injured during his capture and is sent to the hospital. Dae-Young realises his cellphone was stolen by the thief and goes to the hospital to retrieve his cellphone.

In the emergency room, Shi-Jin meets Dr. Mo-Yeon (Song Hye-Kyo) for the first time. He falls in love with her immediately. Mo-Yeon mistakenly assumes Shi-Jin is part of thief's criminal gang. He proves to her that he is a soldier with the help of army doctor Myeong-Joo (Kim Ji-Won).

Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon begin to date, but due to their jobs their dates don't go well. Shi-Jin takes an order to lead his soldiers on a peacekeeping mission to the country of Uruk. Meanwhile, Mo-Yeon becomes upset that she fails to become a professor due to a colleague's privileged background. When Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon meet again, they talk about their views on life and realise how different they are. Shi-Jin, as a soldier, kills to protect lives and Mo-Yeon, as a doctor, tries to save all lives. They say their goodbyes.

Eight months later, Mo-Yeon rebuffs the sexual advances of hospital chairman Suk-Won (Tae In-Ho) and as retribution is assigned to lead a medical team in Uruk. There, Shi-Jin and Mo-Yeon meet again.

이 드라마는 특수부대 대장 시진(송중기)의 이야기다. 대영 병장(진구)과 함께 오토바이 도둑을 잡는다. 도둑은 체포 중에 부상을 입어 병원으로 이송됩니다. 대영은 자신의 휴대폰이 도둑에게 도난당했다는 사실을 깨닫고 휴대폰을 찾으러 병원으로 향한다.

응급실에서 시진은 처음으로 의사모연(송혜교)을 만난다. 그는 즉시 그녀와 사랑에 빠진다. 모연은 시진이 도둑의 범죄 조직의 일원이라고 잘못 생각한다. 그는 군의관 명주(김지원)의 도움으로 자신이 군인임을 증명한다.

시진과 모연은 연애를 시작하지만 일 때문에 데이트가 잘 풀리지 않는다. Shi-Jin은 우루크로 평화 유지 임무를 수행하는 병사들을 이끌라는 명령을 받습니다. 한편 모연은 동료의 특권적인 배경 때문에 교수가 되지 못해 속상하다. 다시 만난 시진과 모연은 인생관에 대해 이야기하고 서로가 얼마나 다른지 깨닫는다. 군인인 시진은 생명을 지키기 위해 살인을 하고, 의사인 모연은 모든 생명을 구하려고 한다. 그들은 작별 인사를 합니다.

8개월 후 모연은 병원장 석원(태인호)의 성추행을 거절하고 보복으로 우르크의 의료팀을 이끌게 된다. 그곳에서 시진과 모연은 다시 만난다.
