Zultanite - A Rare Gemstone

in jewelry •  6 months ago

When we were on our cruise, there was a jewelry store on the ship with some amazing jewelry. I would spend some time looking at the different items and asking prices, which were always super high. One of the gems I really liked was Zultanite.

The salespeople always told us about the different gems and would make them sound like the cruise was the only place to buy them, so at one stop, we looked up Zultanite to see if it was available on eBay. Lo and behold, it was, and at a fraction of the price!

This was added to my list of items I'd like to buy at some point, and Ben remembered! For my birthday this last week, he bought me a Zultanite stone set in a sterling silver ring! I just love the way it looks and how it changes colors in different light.

This is why Zultanite is special - it has different looks based on what lighting there is. It can be green, golden, rose colored, purple, brown, and even a combination. I've seen all of these colors in my ring and it always surprises me as it appears to change before my eyes!

It's even funny because I can see it as one color, but when I go to take a photo of it, the color changes on the screen of my phone. It took me forever to get a photo of it with a purple hue - I finally figured out to do a selfie.

It has been mined commercially since 2006. From the official Zultanite website,

Only found in one place in the world, Zultanite is mined in Turkey’s remote Anatolian Mountains, 4,000 feet above sea level.

Zultanite also exhibits rich khaki greens, sage greens, salmon pinks, mesmerizing violet champagnes and vivid gingers. Its gorgeous kiwi greens with yellow flashes are strongest under daylight, while artificial lighting brings out the rich tones of champagne, pink and raspberry.

Can you see all of the colors in the photos I have taken? It really is a cool ring and I love it! If you're looking for something unique for someone, check eBay for Zultanite!
