According to Archaelogical discoveries in Israel the Canaanites, who spoke proto-Hebrew worshipped many Gods … but the main God was named EL.
El also had a wife, and her name was Ashera … they had a Son named YHVH.
Eventually, with Israelite Monotheism we only have the one God … YHVH
We don’t hear too much about this original Wife named Ashera ….
YHVH, the Son eventually becomes One with EL. His Father.
And the Mother is forgotten.
Until we find more statues of Ashera all over Israel.
Asherah is a Canaanite / Semitic mother goddess who was the wife of the chief god El. She is commonly referred to as the 'Queen of Heaven,' whose worship, in the Old Testament, was vehemently opposed by the prophet Jeremiah. It seems that some carried this over to Hebrew worship as well, considering her the wife of yahweh at times, with this only being fully purged after the exile (this being based likely on the derivation of and conflation of yhvh with el). But the old testament is filled with emphasis on the need to downplay and purge these aspects, focusing on worship of YHVH alone.

Some of these Ashera Goddess figurines and Statues are over 11,000 years old.
Exceedingly ancient…
Similar Ashera Goddess figurines have been found at archaeological sites at the Oren stream in the Carmel region, and in the Jordan Valley. Both are dated to the Pre-Pottery Neolithic era, around 9000 BC. Previous research has indicated that such figurines had been a symbol of human fertility, with some academics believing they represented the “Mother Goddess”
I saw some of these for sale in a tiny antique shop in the Isle of Wight
