This doesn't really represent an accurate picture of the situation. This area was controlled by the Ottoman Empire until World War I going back to the 1500s. Before that it was variously controlled by Jews, Christians and Muslims / Jews, Romans, Arabs, and Europeans at different times. The 1947 map above reflects only a time between the end of WWI and shortly after WWII and even then it was not ruled by Palestinians. Jews, Palestinians (Philistines), and others have been there since Old Testament times.
