This is a second photo of the Lockmaster house just at sundown.
The Lockmaster house is where the Lockmaster Lives.
The Lockmaster opens and closes the locks to let the water rise and fall so that boats can travel up and down the Rideau Canal.
From May to October, the canal is open as a 202 km-long navigational waterway for boaters and paddlers. This historic lockage system and UNESCO World Heritage Site, consists of 29 individual locks, and facilitates travel up and down the canal through many remote environments and townsites.
This is a map that shows the 29 Lockstations along the Rideau Canal.
