A Self- Introduction

My name is Jane and I’m 24 years old. But if I were to choose my name, I like to be called Elizabeth. Hence, my name here is LizzyJane. I am a Filipino- Chinese, born and raised in the Philippines. The two things I love about the Philippines are the beaches and the tropical weather. Although it gets very warm during summer, I enjoy the breezy air during the months of September to December. There are a lot of beautiful tourist spots here too that I have yet to explore.

CHILDHOOD
Growing up, I was a clingy baby (as evident in the picture haha). I remember crying everyday for the entire school year when I was in nursery one because my mom is leaving me to school. Luckily, I got over it as years went by. In my formative years and early teens, I like playing jackstones, lapulapu (also known as dodgeball), snake and ladder, speed stacks, and card games. I was very obsessed with collecting POGs. Writing this blog makes me sentimental as I reminisce those carefree days.

EDUCATION AND CAREER
I graduated Bachelor of Science in Accountancy at University of San Carlos and passed the licensure exam for Certified Public Accountants. Currently, I am working in an accounting firm as an external auditor. Being an accountant is not really my first choice of profession but rather a practical decision I made just because its useful in our day to day lives. Plus, I hate science so going to a medical course was never in my option haha. My first choice, however, is culinary school.

Being an auditor, like any other corporate job, is tiring especially during busy season where submission to BIR deadlines is piling up. This would require us to work overtime and sometimes even on weekends. Yet at the end of the day, I feel very fulfilled because I get to meet new people and work with different clients from different industries. I’m also grateful that some of my officemates were my college classmates. It makes the workload and atmosphere less heavy. My favorite memory was when my friends and I decided to go to the office, on a holiday, just to use the projector for a movie marathon.

HOBBIES
Aside from watching movies and cooking, I enjoy reading books especially nonfiction and memoirs. My favorite book is Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert. She’s also the author of the novel Eat, Pray, Love. I’m also passionate about fermenting foods such as kimchi, yogurt, cream cheese, kefir, and kombucha. These are the hobbies I picked up during the pandemic that I will continue to do for as long as I want. At one point, I tried gardening too. But sadly, this hobby is now put to the sides. My aloe plants are still thriving though.

In the future, I hope to learn how to sew clothes because I want to create a complete set of ensemble for myself. I am also determined to improve my driving skills as I still don’t know how to park properly.

I identify myself as an introvert so with all these hobbies, I wouldn’t mind being at home most of the time haha.

WEEKENDS
When I’m off from work, I am usually at home doing ordinary things but occasionally I like to meet up with friends and visit new cafes. I also enjoy running or hiking early in the morning. My idea of a perfect weekend is going to a mountain with green sceneries, disconnecting myself to the city life. This year, I am pushing myself to go out more often, create new experiences, and meet new people.

Now that I’m in my mid-twenties, I’d like to be more intentional of my actions, explore new places, and build meaningful relationships.

RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME
I love pastel colors because it reminds me of my teenage years. I prefer coffee AND tea over any other beverages. My favorite food is ice cream; least favorite is champorado. I’m a virgo and a Swifties. My favorite series is Friends and if I were one of the characters, I’d be Rachel.
