Aloha Blurt - My First Post Here, There's A Lot To Talk About!

in introduceyourself •  3 years ago

Greetings to everyone here on Blurt. I finally got around to posting here and checking out what's going on. If you don't know, I am an early adopter of Steem/Hive and have been a witness since 2016.

control is extreme.jpg

As some will know I have long been outspoken online and on Hive/Steem too, usually gaining support in the process but also gaining heavy censorship. My own social network that I built myself over 7 years was delisted by Google early on (I presume) because it contained a wealth of information about how to break free from the heartless control system that has been forced onto much of humanity. Part of that includes personal healing, balancing and evolution - plus also exposing the techniques and lies used to control us.

I built that site after seeing myself systematically censored on Youtube & Facebook. Even before all of this I was on Tribe.net, which for me was the original (free speech) social network and contained a huge number of open minded people teaching and sharing with each other. It was eventually bought out and shut down (through deliberately poor maintenance and failure to develop it) by Cisco Systems. Note: I have seen some people claiming that Tribe was a place for child abusers, but I never saw anything like that at all - it was originally the only real place for free thinkers to congregate in a social network online. Once Cisco got hold of it, I left - so it may be that after that they deliberately corrupted it in that way. I do think, though, that anyone speaking of Tribe as a place for child abusers has fallen prey to a deliberate (and seriously evil) takeover and misinformation strategy.

In any case, I came to Steem early on as it was inspiring to see decentralised and public systems being used to further social networking online. Once Hive was spawned due to Justin Sun's takeover of Steem, I figured that Hive would see a resurgence of support for free speech on Hive and a strong intention to escape the kind of behaviour that Justin Sun brought to Steem.

While it is clear that plenty of the key people on Hive do share this intent and are using Hive for support of free speech and personal expression, it is also clear that a small minority of large stakeholders intend the opposite - or at least intend to abuse the system as much as possible for their own ends while claiming to be doing the opposite and accusing their victims of doing what they are doing in the process. It is for this reason and because I have been so heavily downvoted since October 2021 (really by one person on Hive with large stake) that I spent 2 weeks developing the Untrending report that lists all of the downvotes on Hive and gives people an opportunity to countervote them.

I am saying all this to introduce myself and to let you know that I am really truly interested in spaces that enable frees speech, before I am interested in cash. In fact, I lived for about 6 years mostly without cash as an experiment and would very much like to build a world where we exchange based on emotional value rather than imaginary monetary value - I feel that will bring us closer to nature and to ourselves and each other.

All that being said, we currently experience a corrupt paradigm based on money and I have bills to pay like most people, so I do what I can to thrive without compromising strong ethics and values. To that end, I like to support projects/people who are working to heal, balance and evolve this world - and appreciate support in return. If you know of any particular people or groups on Blurt who share this goal then let me know and I'll definitely check out what they are doing.

I am not currently leaving Hive to come to Blurt, partially because I want to try to fix Hive and I feel I am one of the few people with the intent, experience and connections to do so. Many people have put so much time into Hive that it would be a major problem for DPOS as a whole if it were abandoned simply due to the actions of 1 or 2 people. Clearly, as with Steem, it IS possible for a big whale to come in and destroy a DPOS space - but since we don't have the same problem with Hive as we did with Steem (the ninja mined stake and Steemit Inc. controlling things) this is less likely. I personally see Layer 2 communities as a strong way to counter the 'Justin Sun' problem with DPOS, but we shall see.

As a software engineer I know that decentralisation and expansion requires multiple options and free choice. I don't have any problem with forks of Hive existing and I think that anyone on Hive who is against that is in denial of Hive's origins. Forks strengthen software and allow for better support for communities and greater experimentation.

So I'll definitely be posting to both Blurt and Hive for a while to see how things move on. I look forward to connecting with you all.

Questions about Blurt

I have a few practical questions for the community here, can anyone answer them?

  • I am not able to set an avatar or cover image in the blurt.blog UI - I have visited the Settings page and clicked around but there's no visible way to do it - is that a temporary bug or did I look in the wrong place?

  • Is there a way to get Blurt notifications coming into Discord, as with Ginabot on Hive?

  • Are there any plans for Layer 2 tokens on Blurt or are they not seen as useful here (yet)?

  • Is there a directory of Blurt powered sites beyond blurt.blog? (If there are any such sites yet).

Wishing you well,

Ura-Soul

Yeah…

I am posting mostly on the 2nd layers on Hive too. VYBrainium, Waivio, ….
I see way too much Downvote abuse on Hive , LEO, POB by 3- 4 whales (bullies) ….

  1. To get my profile Avatar to work on Blurt I had to do it from a computer and it’s under Wallet settings.
  2. I don’t know how to use bots. I do everything manual.
  3. There is the BYT (Blurt Yield Token) on Hive-Engine that’s pays me 50-100 %APR in Hive every 7 days … I use that Hive to buy more BYT or Swap.blurt

BYT: https://hive-engine.com/?p=market&t=BYT

  1. I think there are few other Blurt Front ends on the works.

Nobody seems to be interested in earning money on these platforms but I made about $40,000 USD on Blurt in 1 year and bought a new car.

Welcome to Blurt. The #1 Free Speech Crypto blogging platform on the Planet.

Ahoy! Thanks for the welcome, tips and answers! I've got the avatar images working now.
Do you have a link to explain how BYT works, that's a lot of interest!
$40k! Wow, that's more than most people have made on Steem/Hive in 5 years - congrats!

Yep, that will be me! :-)
I post weekly reports with insights on how the markets affect the fund and, of course, the weekly yield and rewards distribution. Sometimes also general crypto news trying to pick out important future trends eg predicting the decline in BTC dominance was nice!

It took me 5 years to earn about $18 k on Steemit and Hive … 1 year to earn $40 k on Blurt.

what is waivio haha this is another new one ! :)

  ·  3 years ago  ·   (edited)

Another Hive Front end… where you earn buckets and buckets of free crypto by adding #waivio tag on your posts or posting from their front end… https://waivio.com

Add #vyb #pob #waivio #list #cent #hive-engine if you want extra free crypto on Hive.

So much free money it’s crazy.

HAHA OK done

It's on the settings page on https://blurtwallet.com

Is there a way to get Blurt notifications coming into Discord, as with Ginabot on Hive?

I have a bot that I have written for myself that is very similar to GINA. I plan to make it available to the public once I get a chance to develop it more. I don't currently have a time frame for that.

Are there any plans for Layer 2 tokens on Blurt or are they not seen as useful here (yet)?

It might be more useful once there are more users. The engine team want a sizeable amount to build a Blurt-Engine. It's too expensive for the number of users we have at the moment, but it could be something that comes in the future.

Is there a directory of Blurt powered sites beyond blurt.blog? (If there are any such sites yet).

There isn't one yet. We've been talking about creating one, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I think it's one of the items on @tekraze's plate that he will get going soon.

We also need to have a developer portal with documentation for people who want to build things for Blurt.

Right now there are three of us doing dev work on the UI and supporting infrastructure and one doing dev work on the blockchain itself. All of us have full-time jobs and do dev work for Blurt in our spare time, so things don't move as fast as it would if we had dedicated devs.

Yes probably this week.

Awesome, thanks for assisting. How does your dev work get funded? With upvotes? Or via a DAO?

Ahoy, thanks, I'll take a look.

Welcome to Blurt, I’ll respond to one of the items:

Is there a way to get Blurt notifications coming into Discord, as with Ginabot on Hive?

There was DINO developed by @ericet, but was shutdown when he left. @saboin and I tried to fill in, but have not polished it to the level or quality as GINA. I’ve developed @brunobot to somehow notify me of posts, comments, and transfers which are where the bulk of notifications are required . An MVP if I may call it.

Thanks, ok, I'll check out the bot options when I get time tomorrow.

glad to see you here!

Welcome to blurt... I am not a user of hive. Just a Steemit user and I have seen so many things, wars in hive and it's really sad. Anyway in blurt, you can be a person what you like. you can talk anything without any issues. You will feel the freedom.

Mostly Hive is peaceful, but there are a few idiots on there - it's pretty similar to how Steem was at times before Justin Sun arrived - I don't know how Steem has been since then since I haven't logged in.
Great, I look forward to experiencing the absence of control!

  ·  3 years ago  ·   (edited)

FYI: Now that Justin Sun has left (retired/quit) TRON and Steemit … Steemit is decentralized and there are no downvote wars. (All the major Downvoters moved over to Hive) … You can post once a day on Steemit.com and earn tons of Steem, Tron etc with a small delegation to @justyy ..

I do remember seeing your work on Steemit, after the break up I remained on Steemit and did not put much effort into Hive. Free speech is an aspiration of many but not an easy thing to achieve. It seems that in every endeavor a group of people always end up controlling things, I guess this is the way of the world, thus free speech is never really complete free speech the most you can aspire to is nearly free speech.
That being said I find that Blurt does offer a very free atmosphere and I hope it keeps that way. In any case welcome, and even if I sometimes I will not agree with you I will read what you have to say.

That's a great point, maybe Blurt can be, among other things, a neutral third party to bring Steem and Hive users together who share the same goals. Free speech can be real if those involved share the intent to make that so. DPOS has a 'feature' in it that allows it to be economically dominated by whoever puts the most money in, but at least with no downvotes they only have limited capacity to limit others.
Disagreement is a normal part of the process of life and so is freedom of association, I don't expect anyone to read what I write, but I certainly do appreciate it and aim to create content that people genuinely want to read. Peace to you!

Good to see you testing the waters. Blurt is much better than the other ones. I have no doubt you will find the folks here much more pleasant to deal with than the angry woke whales that are dominating over there.
