My first post

Hello!

I'm Sue from South Africa and if you're wondering whether 29 is my favorite number well... it isn't. It's a reminder that I am unfortunately one year away from turning 30 years old.

As a struggling, almost 30 year old accountant who hardly ever has time to comb her own hair, I decided to join #Blurt in the hope of making a little extra cash, becoming more technologically advanced and hopefully interacting with people from other parts of the world.
I may not have much energy or time to put on a little make up or comb my hair as mentioned above but I am super enthusiastic about sharing my stories and ideas with different people and getting to know their perspectives. I'm challenging myself to not only make the time to learn about others but perhaps learn more about myself through this process.

So enough about why I decided to join the #Blurt community and more about me!... Although I don't have much time for anything apart from attempting to balance my home and work life whilst also trying my best not to lose my mind (apologies in advance and spoiler alert, I'm going to say I don't have time a lot in my posts), I enjoy my work, I love learning new languages and watching movies. I am not much of a people person even though some including my better half might disagree, I can be stubborn and OCD; and also have a creative streak as I sometimes find myself needing to take a break away from my laptop to either paint something, color or do some scrapbooking.

Okay! Now that my introduction is out of the way, here's hoping that this is the start to a fantastic journey of sharing thoughts, ideas and self discovery!

It's now 21:40 on this Thursday, 29th October 2020 evening... until my next post... Good night!

Welcome to Blurt!

I'm also a language enthusiast. I'm only fluent in French and English but I have studied a bunch of other languages to varying degrees.

What are some of the languages you have studied?

I speak English, Afrikaans and very little Zulu. I'm also fluent in Hindi and know some Tamil and Telegu. Currently learning Korean and Mandarin, at least trying to. Just don't ask me to write in these languages... I suck! (laugh out loud)

Nice!

I've studied Korean a bit. I find the writing system in Korean is easy to learn and it helps a lot for learning how to speak as well. I didn't get very far into Mandarin. I just know a few basic expressions. I studied a bit of Japanese, too. I know probably a handful of Chinese characters, but not nearly enough to read.

The other languages that I've studied to some extent are Spanish, German, Greek, and Esperanto. I'm nowhere near fluent in any of those, though.

Wow that's pretty impressive!
I watch a lot of K-drama and C-drama lol, it really helps.
I learned how to speak Hindi fluently by watching Bollywood movies so I figured the same would apply to Korean and Mandarin, so far so good! I used to watch anime in my teens but never really enjoyed it, I've always struggled with Japanese.

I like to watch Asian dramas, too. I've watched a lot of Korean dramas. I also watch Chinese and Japanese Drama. I have a streaming account with Viki. They have all sorts of Asian dramas on there. And there are also lots of Asian dramas on Netflix.

Luuuuuuuurv Netflix! I haven't tried any Japanese Drama's yet, drop me some names, I'll check them out.
