Succeeding as a Blogger: On not Getting Bored too Quickly!

in inspiration •  last year

A few weeks ago, I got "off and running" with Blurt again, shortly after learning about the BeBlurt app and front end (try it, if you haven't already!), which made the blogging experience here a lot more enjoyable.

Pretty cool, huh?

As has often been the case in my life, "keeping up with it" fell by the wayside because "life happens," as they say.

It feels ironic to write that, given that I have been a blogger for over 25 years. But here's the thing: That blogging "career" has definitely not been a straight line!

In fact, a week-long break is pretty much nothing; on occasion I have taken breaks from blogging for two years!

I have to remind myself — on a regular basis — that my creative endeavors have almost always been volatile and inconsistent.

My artwork is pretty much the same. I will work energetically for a few weeks or months, and then I'll wake up one morning and just feel "terribly bored" with the whole thing.

If I have to be entirely honest with myself, that has also been one of the reasons why I was never very good at holding down a "regular" 9:00-5:00 type job, in the long run.

What I have found to be most helpful over the years is to not "should on myself," for my inconsistency. Instead, I have learned — and continue to learn — that it is an integral part of who I am.

Accordingly, there is no getting bored "too quickly." There is simply feeling inspired and sometimes NOT feeling inspired!

Thanks for visiting, and here's hoping your weekend was a good one!

How about YOU? Do you grow bored easily? Do you have any tricks/tools you use to stay consistent? How about inspiration? Does it come sporadically, or in a pretty constant stream? DO leave me a comment — engagement matters! Communities are built because people INTERACT with each other through the content that's created! This is SOCIAL media, after all. So share your opinion, be part of the conversation! I do my best to answer all worthy comments!

Inspiration comes sporadically. The idea situation is keep in idea, creartion, story in storage and then with documents stored to make a perfect timed blog. But that's no fun. It's more fun to post as soon as the creation pops up then we get inspiration from others who comment. Places like Blurt give a blogger freedom to do whatever they feel like.

That is definitely one of the things I really like about this kind of community... it's so much more flexible than having to "write articles" on a more or less fixed schedule, as I did for many years.
