India is a land of rich culture and heritage, all through out the year we have something or the other to celebrate because of our rich diversity. In our Country we have presence of so many different cultures and traditions. It's like every state is a mini Country by itself. Every state has a different culture, language, tradition, cuisine, dressing style and yet when we come together we all look one. Just from the look one will not be able to say which state of India we come from, that's how well we are integrated with each other. There are many common areas also which bind us all together.
One such tradition that we all Indians commonly enjoy is to decorate our home entrance. No matter whichever part of India we live we have these practices of decorating our entrance. Outside of India when we travel, we will be easily able to locate an Indian home, because of the entrance. There is always some good vibe at the entrance in form of a garland, rangoli or something which is of significance to the person who lives in the home.
Having these small things done at the entrance makes a big difference to the energy of the house. You enter the home with a positive feeling and energy. Yes, there are few exceptions everywhere, but at large you will see people follow it. In the building I stay, on my floor we are 4 Indian tenants and each one of us have a permanent garland at our door entrance. Also most of us light a diya near our entrance door.
These are some traditions that differentiate us with the rest of the world and I love to follow them so much. Since childhood we see our elders doing these things in the home and then when we grow up we also follow the same practices, because we know they bring in lot of good energy.
Mu neighbor made this rangoli for me of flowers on one special occasion. I too like to make rangolis and normally make with powder using the stencils, but this flower one looks very pretty and gives a very fresh feeling also.
These little things make our occasions all the more special.
