Longer Warmer Days

SUNSHINE, BLOSSOMS AND SERENDIPITOUS EYEWEAR

Greetings,

Today will be the warmest so far this year with temperatures flirting with 20 degrees on the Centigrade scale. I left home with a long to-do list, and half way realised I forgot half of the things I needed to have on me to complete my tasks for the day. Rather than waste half the day, I've decided to chill and enjoy it instead. It's not too difficult when the weather is this nice.

Today is also the first longer-than-night day of this year and we are officially in springtime. Not that the blossoms behind me care about firm dates. They got going way back in late February. ☀️

I have one of those faces that "normal" fames don't fit on. Thank God I don't wear glasses, I would have had a terrible/expensive time with them as I'd have to have them custom made to fit my head properly. Apart from having a wide bridge, my ears are farther back than most people's, which means the side arms are never long enough for me.

On rare occasions I do find sunnies that juuust about fit, without looking comical. Normally my only choices are those large ski sunglasses or the cycling ones that wrap around the face. They often come in comical colours with weird tints on them. I just want a simple pair of black specs with minimalist design like aviators or something. They just don't exist! I can't be the only one with a big head in the world surely lol.

Anyhow I found these in Boots, one of our institutionally British shops, and jumped on them. They were a little damaged, one arm had been forcibly over-extended (probably by someone trying them on), but I can fix that. I have the tools at home. I showed it to the manager and got a "manager's discount", along with her sympathy, having lamented to her about never being able to find glasses. Perhaps I should have told her about my other issues with trouser dimensions, hats and shoes. She may have let me have the glasses for free as a charity case 😭.
