Nature itself is a single, enormous living creature that is always changing and evolving. Even while I know that change is a necessary aspect of life, I nevertheless find myself wondering from time to time whether people are really ever the same or if we are really evolving internally.
Have you considered this at all? I think all of us seem to grow up and become more mature individuals throughout time, and our childhood and adult selves are significantly different from each other. But do our fundamental characteristics as people truly change? Or does the question have multiple facets and no one correct answer? That would depend on your viewpoint, I suppose. Please allow me to explain.
Even if our changes in personality have been slower than others', the innumerable experiences we have had over the years have made us wiser than before. Can people, nevertheless, also alter at their core? Proverbs that go something like "A leopard can't change her spots" and "A zebra never changes his stripes" Are people covered by that as well? Is it possible to enhance the essential characteristic that characterizes us?
It's possible that there isn't just one solution for this problem. As I have said many times before, humans are complex beings with a multitude of unique features that make each individual unique, therefore we simply cannot reach a firm conclusion on what changes, how much changes, or even whether changes at all!
Throughout our lives, we have all come across a significant number of people whose basic nature has remained constant in spite of changes in their mental, emotional, or physical conditions. In actuality, I think that since I was a child, my nature has remained the same. But we also can't discount the innumerable examples of people who have experienced true transformation. It takes a life-altering experience sometimes, such after a near-death encounter.
I think it all comes down to your drive for change in the end. I think we can all do it, but we have to really want it in order for it to really happen. What is your emotional state?
