One of the eleven contemporary animal species from the genus Equus is the horse (Equus caballus or Equus ferus caballus). The movement of people and things has depended heavily on this animal for thousands of years, making it one of the most significant pets both commercially and historically.

Humans can sit on horses using saddles, and they can also pull objects like plows or wheeled vehicles. Horses are sometimes used as a source of food. Horse use for human purposes has only been documented since 2000 BC, despite the fact that horse breeding is considered to have begun as early as 4500 BC.

It is referred to as juan in Javanese although Makassar is hardly occasionally used.

Horse history
Initially, scientists believed that the ancestors of the modern horse were first tamed in Botai, Central Asia, around 3500 BC or 5500 years ago. Another team of scientists disagreed with this view, though, and their findings were published in 2021. It was discovered that the steppes of West Eurasia, more specifically the Volga-Don region, are the habitat of the contemporary domestic horse based on the genome sequences of ancient horse DNA. Furthermore, these contemporary domestic horses quickly supplanted other local horse populations outside of Eurasia. With tangible equestrian culture, such as the wheeled chariot of the Sintasthta civilisation about 2000 BC, the domestication of the modern horse occurred at the same time.

Horses in culture
Horses have had a significant impact on human culture. The nomadic tribes (Nomads) of Central and North Asia's prairies and deserts were the first to ride this animal. The animal can then be used for towing.

Many cultures view the horse as a representation of strength, intelligence, and freedom. People with Horse zodiac signs are thought-provoking, self-reliant, and independent according to the Chinese calendar.
