It has been a month since I have started my homestay venture and kind of a roller coaster ride also. I never imagined that I would be so much caught up in emotions. First of all making a place of your dreams and then giving it to other people for vacation rentals is a very tough decision to make. But then if I have to be practical then this is how it's supposed to be. Right now when I am here in Muscat I barely get to visit there, and the home stays empty. So it's ideal for me to rent it out for short vacation stays, like Airbnb.
I have had so many different types of people coming in and staying, some of them have been very nice and polite where as some have been very difficult to manage. Some have been destructive too. The last 2 groups that came, of which one of them broke our stairway glass with their careless attitude, they were a nuisance, they also broke one of the bidets in the washroom. I was feeling so furious and annoyed with them that I wanted them to leave my place immediately. The one that came this weekend damaged by Hot water electric kettle and then they did not want to own it up as well and instead of being apologetic one of the lady in their group got mad at my caretaker because the caretaker informed us. Pheww......what kind of people :-(
I know all of this is part and parcel of running a business but then the least I expect is that if the damage is done they should own it up and not pass on the buck to us. If I have to keep paying for the damages then it is a loss for me. Both the instances we recovered the money partly from them. Some guests are really nice and they value what they get. But I get annoyed when people have all the fun and then spoil it by damaging my property.
Let's see how things go in future else I will have to reconsider my decision of renting it as a vacation stay and think of something else.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
