I set off for Warsaw on a bus with a 4 **** hotel booked to stay at, which I could not locate, so a random taxi stopped and offered to take me there, turns out he charged me 2 1/2 times the price according to the hotel reception.
Anyway - I set off for the airport at noon just to be told the flight I booked, see last post, required a visa for India and Malaysia, neither of which I had, so that was $800 down the drain plus insurance and extras.
I booked another flight at the airport for the next day with Emirates at a cost of 1450 euros, but with transit me, and luggage so no visa required.
It was a 5 hours and 15 flight to Dubai with some very pleasant company aboard, met a world champion speedway rider from Australia and his British wife and children.
A four hour stop over in Dubai, 1 pint of beer at £15 (seems rude not to) and a second flight of 9 hours and some minutes and I landed the same day I would have with the 4 leg flight.
Again met some superb people, & the food is now beyond average to the lower end of the scale with Emirates which surprised me.
When I stood up to get off the plane my right knee that I broke way back when in 1988 had swollen and I could barely walk.
Anyway.
A taxi driver approached me when I reached the outside after 2 yes 2 hours of customs, forms, queues for a visa on arrival, immigration and nothing to declare (60 days and $70 US.)
I agreed £35 to take me to my accommodation which is OTT but I just wanted to get there and have a beer in bed to stretch my leg.
The place is very Bali-esque and quaint with some very tropical plants that I shall show you another day.
That above is now my office/blogging spot and at 30c lovely springs to mind.
I also have a free of charge motorbike to use and have named it Betty.
My problems had not ended by now as I had booked for next month not this one.
The owner said he had a room so I pulled out my laptop, cancelled the November booking, and booked and paid from then.
I was in.
All in all, I am in love with Bali again, a decade on from my last love affair with this superb island that truly is "the land of a thousand smiles" "hello's" and happy humans in the being.
Chilling in my office garden tonight with the entire place to myself, spot on.
Hope you are having as good a night as I am.
Betty is in between all the greenery. Not riding it today or until my knee is okay with being bent to ride.
I set off on foot last night from my accommodation to get a few beers on foot, and managed to get lost, it was the first time in my life I felt genuine fear.
I did not know the name of the place, where it was, and my phone sim is not working hear, so I put that fear to one side and kept walking until I saw things I remembered, 2 hours later I was sitting in my office having a beer with a miserable Canadian, who was joined by another of equally depressing character, no idea why they even came here for a holiday. They now live in Australia and the latter are most welcome to them.
They had also lived in @frot country for 7 years, that maybe explains why they were so dull, boring and depressing, fear not, I had some beer. (New Zealand.)
First day today.
I walked around to find a local sim card as my phone holds 2, one failed, but the next shop I arrived at managed to fit one that does internet, is supposed to do calls, but does not, no worries, only want it for sat nav anyway.
The lady in that shop was very friendly, spoke good English and was fun to be around.
I met some lovely people (locals) like the lady in the sim card shop and a gent that took me there, I was walking past his shop and his wife said hello, I said hello, he asked where I was going and if I needed any help, so I stopped and had a chat, I said I needed a ATM and a supermarket for some snacks, he offered to take me there on his moped for free and offered me cheap tours or taxi rides to anywhere I want on the island.
We exchanged phone numbers....
It turns out my new sim was fine with internet but does not want to do calls, no worries, whatsapp it is then.
The gent took me to the ATM and a supermarket and delivered me home, top man.
Everywhere I go people say hello, smile and look happy, what a lovely place to be indeed.
I will put more photos up when my Knee is fit and working as it should.
Looks beautiful mate! Have fun in paradise! 🐒🌴🌊🐠
Cheers buddy, I shall give it my very best shot, I just keep smiling, hard not to here, it is that friendly.
👌😉
Wow, this place is awesome and beautiful 😁. I am sure you enjoy been there.
I truly is beautiful and the people are the most friendly people on this planet I have ever met.
Awesome glad you made it even with the extra nonsense involved, maybe the Canadians are getting away from frot🤣. Hope you have a superb time mate👍
Cheers buddy, and quite possibly re frot.
Re🤬eD
miserable Canadians 🥓
Unlike the Indonesians, never known a place more friendly, you just have to walk passed people, everyone says hello, little old ladies sweeping the drive, shop owners, beautiful place full of superb humans in the being, love it here very much.
I knew a bunch of Hippies with the New Earth Nation group out there, years back. You're not alone in your assessment 🥓
It is most welcome after 8 years in Poland where nobody SMILES.
Still a place I am dying to visit
When you do make sure to stop in places where you can meet the locals.
Lol, 7 years in NZ could be depressing...
God they are snide bastards, heard them laughing about me losing my bank card last night, Australia is welcome to them, vile people they are.
Yeah, some Kiwis are cunts - but not all! - I am awesome :)
