As far as is known, a game like hockey was introduced in Persia two thousand years ago. The people of France started playing the game called "Hocket". Hocket is a French word meaning shepherd's stick. Much later, the people of England learned the game from France and started playing under the name Hawke. According to the English pronunciation, the game later spread all over the world under the name of hockey. The International Hockey Federation was formed in 1924. Men's hockey started at the Olympics in 1970 and women's hockey started in 1980. The first World Cup of Hockey started in 1981. Bangladesh Hockey Federation was formed in 1982.

  1. Length: Hockey field is 100 yards long and 60 yards wide.
  2. Width: The width of all the lines in the field is 3 inches.
  3. Line: The big line of the field is called side line and the small line is called back line.
  4. Shooting Circle: A line of 4 yards length should be drawn in the field 18 yards away parallel to the BRAC line. Draw a semicircle by drawing two sides of this line and connecting it to the back line.

  7. Players: Each team will have 16 players. During the game, 11 players will play on the field and the rest will be extra players.

  9. Playing time: The game starts in 2 halves. Each half time 35 minutes and break 5 to 10 minutes.
