Hive is tearing itself apart over AI

in hive •  2 years ago

Hive is famously xenophobic towards non-English speakers: they don't like posts in foreign languages, and people who post in English with spelling or grammar mistakes are often downvoted.

So Africans and Latin Americans have been using Grammarly to correct mistakes, and more recently chatbots to produce content in English. They're still producing interesting articles e.g. the problems in Nigeria over the new naira - but Hivewatchers have been downvoting and blacklisting them for the crime of using AI to drain the reward pool.

Of course curation gets 50% of the reward pool, but that pool is drained too by whales using curation bots that upvote without reading.

If you set up a system where rewards are distributed without reading, does it matter whether the content is human produced or not?

Authors get paid when people like you upvote their post.

Thanks for the information, hive on it own is gradually becoming a ghost town platform due to big whale's who believe they can do and undo anything they fit they desire on that platform.

Yeah the recent hive fest popped up on my YouTube the other day and I skipped into a few parts out of interest and there were like 20 ppl there looking bored. Didn’t there used to be loads go to it ?

Yes this is actually the best proof where down-voting philosophy goes. Because of that many of us leaved hive, because we already saw this xenophobic, full of censorship and despotic trend 2 years ago.

That's why we should do everything we can to make Blurt more popular and successful.

Agreed I used to get downvoted for standing up for the ppl they were bullying they don’t like that they only liek followers of the cult.

I was in a private chat group with a few from ocd and they used to pick newbies out of the chat and just bully them. They would always laugh about where ppl were from and couldn’t speak English etc I mean I bet they spoke better English than they speak other languages on the most part. They would bully ppl for all kinds rly I saw it way back then and it’s why I could never rly love steemit. I didn’t realise how big of a control they had over the site till later

Interesting question!

It’s only for the minions they also don’t like you having multiple accounts whilst they have multiple accounts, posting on steemit whilst they farm steem go look at acidyos wallet on steemit lol they want quality content but like gettint high upvotes for a sentence or something that on YouTube gets 2 views and 2 likes max. It’s a joke and a bunch of jokers
They will kill off their own site. The recent hive fest popped up on my YouTube the other day and like 20 ppl went.

They're all hypocrites on that site.

100 percent. I am sure I told most pll now in my first week I was invited into a private chat group with these ppl from steemit chat. Probs cause I was one of the only girls and the things I witnessed in there by a number of the downvoters was disgusting. They would pick out ppl to bully and take to 0 for fun. Laugh about people. To begin with I lay low I guess then when I was more outspoken they kicked me out and added me to another chat room where they made fun of me whilst I was on mute. It was so freaking pathetic. I don’t think they have grown up at all either. I think most of them sit in their bedrooms all day tbh.

There is also a uhive

Imagine if YouTube started saying ppl were earning too much and taking back money lol
The more people like your content the more you earn rly simples

Chat GPT's insight:

As an AI language model, I don't have personal opinions, but I can provide some insights into this issue.

On one hand, if the goal of the platform is to reward high-quality content that is interesting, informative, or entertaining, then it could be argued that using AI-generated content or relying solely on algorithms for curation and distribution of rewards goes against that objective. AI-generated content may lack the nuance, creativity, and unique perspectives that human-generated content can provide. Furthermore, relying solely on algorithms for curation could create a system that rewards popular content, rather than high-quality content, which could lead to a homogenization of ideas and perspectives on the platform.

On the other hand, if the goal of the platform is to distribute rewards fairly and efficiently, then the use of AI-generated content and algorithms for curation and distribution of rewards could be seen as a viable solution. It could help to address issues of bias, discrimination, and favoritism that can arise in human-based systems, and it could allow for more equitable distribution of rewards across a wider range of users and content.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to prioritize human-generated content or to rely more heavily on AI-generated content and algorithms for curation and distribution of rewards will depend on the values and goals of the platform and its community, as well as the trade-offs and risks associated with each approach.

The AI can BS better than most people.

Ha ha! Sounds like some of the most highly voted posts on there!

Yeah @candy49...

Sometimes posts are translated using AI and it sounds like a machine. The sentences flow and the vocabulary is interesting, but it is really not human style. Curators will need to keep their eyes open, but I'm too tired for that.

Jesus it’s good these days lol always a bit soulless tho I can tell immediately what’s ai art and prob can ai chat too

Honestly, AI chat responses are difficult to digest. It's like I have to translate it into real English. The thing that will happen though is one day they will copy our style and actually sound real. The same is going on with the art. It's hard for me to draw pictures and make something, but they do it in seconds. The problem is there are still blotches here and there. I give a description of what I want, but the AI still looks like a homogenized painting. It's not really an original, but a mixture of ideas. On the other hand I like getting images produced so quickly. I think as long as people note that it is AI and give credit to the AI then it is fair game.

hahaha - Excellent question!
