Driving in a taxi when the road had turned to a river in Ghana

in hive-196037 •  3 years ago  (edited)

Last week we had two monsoon rains. This one was on Friday and we left the resort just as it really started to come down. The rough road that we are at the end of turned into a river. This was after the height of the storm when we were returning. The little cab did good under the direction of the driver and we made it home safely.

I think we are now firmly entering the rainy season. This is my favorite time of the year because the weather is very cool, and between rain storms the sky gets very blue and clean. The green starts overtaking everything and life is abundant.

Yeah I love the rainy season too but for people going to work it can prevent them from going to work, I prefer it at night so I can have a goodnight sleep

O sorry @leifasaur, thank God you made it safely home.

The rainy season is very wonderful period for the farmers though it comes with other issues like flood, etc.

In conclusion, I wish you a wonderful farming season.

Wow, the rain was really heavy but am grateful you are home safely

Uhgg Monsoons in Tucson can be quite deadly. Especially if it's only raining in the surrounding mountains and not in the valley. Water rushes through the washes with such force it can easily carry ones car away.

Luckily we are not dealing with a big drainage area or lots of elevation change. The most dangerous part is probably pathogens in the water from human waste and things. In the city with open gutters and more cement things get more deadly quickly. The worst part is all the movement of trash in these storms.

Yes I have heard of the dangerous gully washers.
