Slowly losing my faculties
Questions overcome me
If I'm not one how would I know?
How narrow is narrow?
The door only opens to
the microscopic few.
Critical thinking is not manipulation
Out of my mind
Running out of time
Death's initiation
Is sooner than mankind
Would like it to be
We live eternal
Though only we
The chosen
The elect
Intersect
Perfect paradise
Newly created.

But where is my assurance
This is my future?
So many cuts
Little can be sutured
I'm left to bleed
Left in need
Left on scraps
Of bread to feed
My deeds
Are ugly
Yet not utter
I need the butter
The fat of living
Among the forgiving
Not the judges
The ones who tell me
I'm not going to be
Good enough
I can see
My heart is rough
But I don't stand on my merit
I inherit
A promise
An atonement
From a moment
In history
A mystery
Given to me
And sustained
Though little gained
Here and now
But how
Much should I care
When I get there
And all this is a puff of air?
