Next year 2023 will mean a long test for the Cuban sports movement, which will face for the first time three multiple games during this period, and which will also have ahead of it an extensive path of qualifying events of all kinds heading to the appointment under the five rings of Paris 2024.
The first big moment of the calendar will take place in April in Venezuela, home of the 5th. Dawn Games. This fair, which obviously does not have such a high level as those that will follow, will be an ideal moment for the preparation of many of our athletes for the two fundamental multisport commitments that will happen shortly after.
Later on will come the Central American and Caribbean Games, which will take place in San Salvador, capital of El Salvador, from June 23 to July 8, 2023.
The opening of this regional event will be at the José "Mágico" González stadium and will be competed in 54 disciplines. Curiously, this time the Salvadoran city will share part of the events with the next Central Caribbean venue, the Dominican Santo Domingo, which will host the taekwondo, Moderna pentathlon, horse riding, canoeing, shooting, racquetball and field hockey competitions.
Cuba's main objective in this multi-sport fight is to stay as close as possible to the top of the medal table, after having placed second in Barranquilla (102 gold, 74 silver and 60 bronze) and to cede the absolute supremacy that it held in all its participations from Panama 1970 to Veracruz 2014 (remember that it did not attend the San Salvador 2002 and Mayagüez 2010 editions).
A little more than three months later, on October 20, the flame of the 19th will be lit at the National Stadium in Santiago de Chile. Pan American Games, continental sports fire that will last until November 5th.
