Today was a wild day! We started hearing the reports that the conditions could be right for tornados in our area. This is not uncommon, but this is the first time I remember when we actually got the emergency notifications on our phones, the local siren started screeching and we had to head to the basement. The only trouble was that my husband was out on errands, and my daughter was in a nearby town babysitting.
What does this have to do with my Actifit post? Well, I had planned to go out for a walk before the storm started, but I delayed just a bit too long and the sky turned a really creepy color. And the wind snd rain whipped up and then the siren started going! So needless to say, walking was out of the question. In fact, I had to head to the basement and take cover.
The good news was that my husband dashed homes from his errands and my daughter intelligently deduced to stay in place and take shelter (and my other two kids were in good places), so we all had a family chat via text as we watched the storm radar and listened to the radio.
It was pretty crazy. The wind and lightning were thrashing. We heard some places had golf ball sized hail, or larger. One report said some hailstones were the size of baseballs!
It was wild watching it come our way on the weather station. It passed on over in about 15 minutes and there was an announcement that the tornado warning was canceled in our county.
Needless to say, I did end up getting some steps with an indoor workout. And I’m feeling grateful for life and health!
Thank you for visiting!
