Sometimes, one seemingly small outing turns into a ridiculous adventure.
Yesterday, my day went like this. I started out the workday sleep deprived because I have been up late at night working on a home project and up early for work. I put in my usual 9 hours of work and then had to go to the hardware store to find a replacement sink for the one I had already purchased, which was not going to work.
Normally the sink drain is in the middle, right? Well this fancy sink had the drain on the right. But my plumbing is to the left. So the contractor said I might get blockage in the drain if we install pipes that essentially have to make a sharp left turn!
The first hardware store I went to (Menards) had some decent options, but none had the faucet hardware included, which means I would have to spend an additional $100+ to put it all together.
At the second hardware store (Home Depot), I returned the previous sink I had purchased. (No thank you to clogged drains!) But I knew from looking before that they didn’t have another sink that would work. So my errand was complete there… for the moment.
In addition to finding a new sink, I also needed to evaluate counter top options, and my contractor told me he knew a lot of people who had bought their counters at IKEA. Imagine my surprise!
So I went to IKEA. I spent about 20 minutes looking over their counter tops and not seeing any of them as viable options for my project. But by now it was well past dinner time so I sat down and had something to eat in their cafe.
I was getting worried because I planned to paint the bathroom when I got home, and it was getting late.
So I headed off to hardware store #3 (Lowes). This one was 20 minutes from the other locations, but I really needed to find that sink. Fortunately, I found one that would work well (drain on the left!), was a reasonable price, and included the faucet assembly, so I didn’t have to buy that separately.
But something odd happened. While loading the sink in the back of my vehicle, I noticed a very strange phenomenon up in the sky. I had never seen anything like it. It looked exactly as if a spaceship was hovering above the clouds.
I got in the car and started driving toward the light to see if I could figure out what was causing it. I even googled on my phone to see if anyone else was seeing this odd phenomenon in the sky over that town.
Finally I got to a little vista where I could see better and realized that the lights were projected up. There is a big casino in that area, so I’m sure that was it.
So — no UFO!
I drove the 20 minutes back to the town where I had started, and went back to hardware store #2 (Home Depot) because I remembered that I needed a few other things.
Now, this may seem very silly, but I picked out the things I needed and went to the checkout counter, and suddenly realized that I did not have my purse with me. At first, I thought I must’ve left it somewhere in the store when I was looking at some trim and so on. So I retraced my steps to the two areas where I have been, asked several employees, but they had not seen it.
That’s when I realized that I must have left it in the shopping cart at Lowe’s when I was looking at the weird phenomenon in the sky. So I called there, and a good Samaritan had turned it in! But they were closing in five minutes.
Fortunately they are willing to hold onto it and let me drive down there. So I raced down and picked it up and then went back to the previous town because that’s where the store was where I needed to get a few grocery items.
Long story short, I got home at 11:00 PM and that is when I started my painting project! I didn’t finish until 2 o’clock in the morning.
Mama said there’d be days like this!
Thanks for visiting!
