As the January transfer window reaches closer, you'll see the transfer rumours ramp up, one that I don't think will happen is the move of Zaniolo, but I could be proven wrong, you know strange things happen in football. Zaniolo has just 18 months left on his current contract and talks over a renewal have proven to be complicated and stalled. According to reports, the 23-year-old wants €4.5million per year (around £75,000-a-week) plus bonuses, but Roma are only offering €4m per year (around £67,000-a-week). Zaniolo is seen as the clubs long-term core midfielder and was once spoken about as the next Totti.

Premier League giants Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United could all offer him a great deal more than that and would be all too happy to poach a top player on the cheap. The situation is complicated further by rumours surrounding Jose Mourinho, who has been linked with the Portugal job following Fernando Santos’ departure, so if he goes it might shake the players confidence in staying with Roma for the long term.
