Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares has signed for Ligue 1 outfit Marseille on loan for the season, having been linked with a move to Atalanta and even back to his previous club Benfica. Tavares joined from Benfica last season as backup for Tierney and with Kieran's injuries he had to play a fair bit and was exposed for poor defending, while he has bags of ability going forward, he is often caught out on positioning and beaten for strength in the premier league.
He also tends to make sloppy passes and really bad decisions and that may be due to his age and maybe he will mature away from the club.
Since joining from Benfica, Nuno made 28 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions last season, scoring once and assisting twice.

A statement on the Gunners' website read:
"Nuno Tavares has joined Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille on a season-long loan deal.
He joins former gunners Saed Kolasinac and Matteo Guendouzi at the club while William Saliba who was on loan at Marseille has moved back to Arsenal to become part of the first team, a path Mikel homes Tavares can emulate as he seeks more game time in France.
