Absolutely killed the step count yesterday and ended up with a whopping 13,000 steps! That was all thanks to an evening stroll to Tropea. I use the word “stroll” with a huge dollop of sarcasm because getting from our apartment to the town of Tropea, even though it looks a stones throw away, means hills, twists, turns, and a monumental step climb. And although it was 9pm this “stroll” was done in the most humid of heat.
However, once we’d conquered the steps from hell we found ourselves in one of the most beautiful Italian towns I’ve been to so far. Not to say I’ve been to many places in Italy but this certainly isn’t my first rodeo. Nettuno, which is further north was a gorgeous location but Tropea is like Nettuno on steroids! Unbelievable views from heights that make your tummy do somersaults. Buildings that appear to be teetering on the edge of the cliffs. Streets so narrow, you find yourself in a constant dance routine with other pedestrians as you weave in and out of each other’s way. Is it busy? Yes. Is it at all frustrating? No, not at all. It’s alive. It’s loud. It’s a natural kaleidoscope of colours, aromas, laughter and music! It’s simply wonderful and I can not wait to write about it in more detail.
For now though, you will have to take what you can from this snippet and come revisit my blog when I return to describe all I’ve seen on this wonderful holiday to Italy.
Ciao for now!
