Sunday.
We're talking about yesterday again.
The day started under a thick layer of fog and it stayed a bit hazy throughout. Autumn is definitely trying to get a hold already.
Yet again I took a walk out into the forbidden forest to enjoy sitting by the hidden lake. It's the best place to escape the world and enjoy some solitude for a little while.
I have to get back into posting for "today". I really enjoyed the mindfulness it brings to reflect upon the day before it ends and that gets lost in the "yesterday" spiral. Doing a "yesterday" post feels a bit like a chore sometimes.
Anyways... something else I noticed yesterday were two kinds of parasitic growths on some beech leaves along the way.
Some fluffy little bally things growing from one leaf and a bulbous fruity looking thing from another one.
I initially suspected they're some kind of fungus but I did some research and it's actually caused by the larvae of some flies. The larvae stimulate the leafs to grow around them in these bulbs. They'll remain in there when the leafs fall off before winter to stay protected until spring when they'll emerge as new flies.
The fluffy ones are hartigiola annulipes and the bulbous ones are called mikiola fagi.
Thanks for your time!
