Friday.
Yesterday's report card.
It rained some more during the night. Finally, the forest fires are "officially" reported to be fully extinguished now.
The fire brigade has started taking down their improvised logistics camps at the edge of town but I guess they're still watering the ground and watching the site right now as their big pumps drawing water from a nearby creek are still operating and the forest is still locked off.
These hoses run for about two kilometers into the forest where the fire was. There's similar setups running from three different lakes around the area. It's unimaginable how much water they must have been dumping to get the fire under control.
I guess I'll be able see what the aftermath looks like sometime in the coming days.
Instead, since this is about Friday, let's check up on the chicken-of-the-woods that's been featured for the previous couple of #FungiFriday's.
The decay is slow but steady. As it looks like, some helping hands, or rather mandibles, are going at it now. That might speed up the process.
You'll notice all the chicken-crumbs spread around and some tunneling is happening, too. I'm not certain, but I believe there's a colony of ants having a feast here?!
With that checked off and a quick confession that I actually took the mushroom pictures this morning, on Saturday, now back to the picture of the day, from Friday:
A lone tree with a dying crown.
I don't dabble with turning things black and white very often, but this image was sort of screaming for some enhanced monotony!
Thanks for your time!
