This photo shows the atmosphere at a tea sorter at the Perbawati tea plantation, Sukabumi circa 1911. The Perbawati tea plantation in Sukabumi is one of the Dutch heritage tea plantations in Indonesia which was widely founded following the entry of Dutch private capital into the Dutch East Indies.

The photo above was taken by Jean Demmeni, a photographer of French-Madurese descent living in West Sumatra, and the archive is kept by Leiden University in the Netherlands.
