World War II changed the course of the history of many nations in the world, especially the nations of Asia and Africa. World War II became a game changer that freed the nations of Asia and Africa from the colonialism of European nations. Including the Indonesian people who were free from Dutch colonialism after World War II.

After World War II ended in Europe with the surrender of Germany, practically the front of the war was left in Asia with Japan, which was also under pressure. Nations in Europe rejoiced to be free from the grip of Germany, including the Netherlands whose government was forced to flee to London when its country was occupied by Germany.

In June 1945 the Dutch held a joyous parade free from German colonialism in Amsterdam. The photo above is a vehicle from one of the parades which shows a vehicle in the form of a Garuda bird with people dressed in Nusantara and the words Indonesie Onderdrukt which means Indonesia is oppressed. This was because at that time Indonesia, which was considered part of the Netherlands, was still under Japanese occupation, which had not yet surrendered on the Asian front.
