Above is a photo of the Bogor Palace around 1880 which was taken from the Bogor Botanical Garden area. While below is a photo of the Bogor Palace in 2017, or about 137 years later.
We can see the magnitude of the similarity of the buildings, it seems that not many changes have been made to preserve this historical heritage building.
Bogor Palace is a witness to the long journey of the Indonesian people, starting from the Dutch colonial era until now. The palace witnessed various policies of the governor general of the Dutch East Indies, to the presidents of the Republic of Indonesia. In the turbulent period around 1965-1966 President Soekarno had many activities in this palace. A cabinet meeting in response to the September 30th Movement (G30S) was also held in this palace.
