A Bataknese Village, 1900's

The photo above is of a Bataknese village in the 1900s, according to the photo caption preserved by Leiden University in the Netherlands. You can see people's houses and a small house that looks like a cattle barn.

As in many other indigenous peoples village, these houses were also communal houses that can accommodate many families.

If you look at the shape of the house, it looks like the photo above is of a Karonese village, some of whose people don't want to be equated with the Bataknese. Try to compare the house in the photo above with Karonese' house below, is it similar?
