China consisted of 7 major states in the 3rd BC. These included:
Zhao, Yan, Han, Wei, Chu, Qi and of course Qin. Over time, the warring states would see shifts in power and Qin would start to emerge as a powerful force that would push their borders through various conquests.
The start of a series of wars would come around 221 BC, the start of it all.
