After the yard sale, we still had a bunch of items we wanted to get rid of. So we lugged them out to the curb for the scrappers to take, or the trash collection to dispose of.
We had a bunch of nice things that we didn't want to see destroyed, but also had no need of and were tired of all the room it took up. We tried selling them and asked around to our neighbors, but nobody seemed to want them. Not even the bikes!
The lawn mower was thought to be broken, but I realized that I had only over filled it with oil. So we recovered the lawn mower. The bikes and the grill were taken by scrappers for the metal. All that was left for the trash was the toy kitchen and stuffed animals, but we decided to give them to a charity instead along with a bunch of cloths.
Hidden Treasure
What we didn't realize was the tractor. All metal, toy tractor. My mom suggested that it was valuable. So we looked it up on ebay.
It's not in the greatest shape, the paint's worn off. But it's completely functional. Turns out it sells for hundreds of dollars online!
Who knows what it would sell for on ebay, but it's worth giving it a try! And to think we were about the throw it out to the trash collection!
As the proverb goes: one man's trash is another man's treasure. I wonder if the first man simply didn't take the time to learn the treasure they were considering as trash. The lesson is that p aying attention can pay off sometimes.
