A few decades ago I had the pleasure of visiting Egypt. My travels to North-eastern Africa were wonderful. The dry heat was to be expected there and I was happy to find air conditioning in most venues.
Hospitality in Egypt was warm and welcoming, after some time I noticed a usual welcome or start of bartering between customer and merchant would start with a drink. A chilled hibiscus tea would often be brought over as refreshment, it was my first time having this tea brewed from the hibiscus plant.
It tasted similar to cranberry juice yet carried a lighter aftertaste. Since then I have discovered the wonderful benefits of hibiscus and make my own when possible. Hibiscus is wonderful for lowering blood pressure and preventing disease, this is mostly down to their rich antioxidant properties. It's also an effective natural remedy for acne!
