One funny thing about Nigerians is, they approach politics and religion with emotions and sentiments and stop observing the principles of logic.
They forget that this is a democracy and everyone is free to have their own candidate. Sometimes, they ditch you because you have a different presidential candidate.
I just put up a Sowore campaign bill and indicated that he is my presidential candidate. Guess who the class of people ditching me over it are?
The same Peter Obi's supporters who should want the votes of others.
Most of the posts I share here are intended to test how the minds of Nigerians work. Their reactions help me to measure hypocrisy level so I can distinguish it from outright ignorance.
I have been part of different political processes. My first involvement with a political party as a card carrying member was twenty years ago.
I was a founding member of Chris Okotie's Fresh Democratic Party. I was like so many of you. I didn't understand what a political process is.
Let me educate some of you on how elections are won in this country.
A honest politician knows that 2023 presidential election is fifty percent won already. How?
Actual election victory starts with the voter's registration process.
Recently, INEC concluded voters revalidation process. The aim was to help voters to update their records, i.e. in case you no longer live where you initially registered to vote.
How many of you updated your record?
Secondly, those who reached the voting age of 18 were registered to be able to vote in 2023.
Serious political parties take advantage of these processes. Sometimes, you hear of people being moved to different states to register.
This is the reason it will be impossible for any new political formation to win an election overnight in Nigeria.
Recently, someone told me about a whopping sum of 50k per voting card for anyone who has it. Political parties are using proxies to marshall these plans.
Also, most people were mobilized and paid handsomely to get a PVC, after which it was taken from them and kept until election day.
These are highlights of some of the political processes in Nigeria. Election victory is circumvented before votes are cast.
Aside these facts, let's check the number of the voting population according to geopolitical regions in Nigeria:
SOUTH EAST
7,028,560
SOUTH WEST
14,298,356
SOUTH SOUTH
8,937,057
NORTH CENTRAL
7,675,369
NORTH EAST
10,038,119
NORTH WEST
18,900,543
Grand Total - 66,878,004
This was for 2019. The number has increased now. Instead of being emotional, go and study these figures, think around the strange faces you will see thumbprinting against your candidate in places that are supposed to be for him.
In my polling unit in Abuja, it is trailer loads of people who do not live in the neighborhood that come there to vote. Think about this.
My point is, major factors that will determine the trajectories for the 2023 votes have already been taken by smart political parties and their agents.
