Two bomb explosions near candidates' offices in Balochistan, Pakistan, killed at least 28 people and injured many others on the day before general elections, officials said.
The first explosion happened in Pishin district, north of Quetta city, and killed 16 people.
The second blast, in Qila Saifullah to the east, left 12 people dead. No group or individual have taken responsibility for the attacks yet.
So far, The elections have been marked by series of violent activities and allegations of vote tampering. The Former Prime Minister whose name is Imran Khan is not allowed to run for office.
The cause of the explosion is still being investigated by the police
Balochistan, Pakistan's largest and poorest province, is rich in resources but has a history of violence. For over a decade now, some armed groups have been struggling for more autonomy . Islamist militants, including the Pakistani Taliban (TTP), are active along the Afghanistan border.
The bomb in Pishin went off in front of an independent candidate's party office. About 25 people were said to be badly injured. It was reported that The candidate was meeting with his polling agent at the time the explosion occurred.
The second explosion targeted the election office of the JUI-F party in Qila Saifullah. Around 20 people were injured. According to the Officials the number of casualties could increase.
