Autopsy records reveal that two children, Elianna "Ellie" Wentz, aged 9, and Aden Wentz, aged 7, allegedly killed by their mother in Colorado, died from gunshot wounds. They were discovered dead at a property in Colorado Springs on December 19. Kimberlee Singler, their mother, aged 35, was arrested in London after 11 days. The autopsy reports as obtained by the BBC revealed that the children had a very high levels of doxylamine, a sleep medication, in their bodies. Ellie suffered a gunshot wound to her head and cuts to her neck, while Aden was killed by a gunshot to his head, with additional neck wounds. Both children had potentially toxic levels of doxylamine in their blood. Doxylamine is used to treat insomnia and allergies.
In recent months, US media reported that Singler and her ex-husband, 38-year-old Kevin John Wentz, were involved in a court battle over custody since December 2018. Singler had filed for a temporary protection order in September, alleging that Wentz had threatened her with a knife. Wentz denied the allegations. In November 2023, Singler filed an emergency motion to restrict parenting time, but the court found no imminent threat from Wentz and rescinded the order. Despite court orders for additional time with their father, Singler did not comply, leading to a police response on December 19. Ellie and Aden were found dead, while Singler and another daughter were injured and hospitalized. Singler fled to the UK, where she was arrested in Kensington on December 30.
