The parable of the Good Samaritan, as told in the book of luke chapter 10 from vs 25 to 37 is a powerful story as told by our Lord Jesus Christ ,this story teaches us how to have compassion and love for others. In the story, a man who was traveling was stopped, robbed and beaten and left to die on the road.
The priest and Levites who were considered to be Religious figures and was expected to offer some help ignored him.
However it was a Samaritan who , member of the group hated by the Jew who was traveling along the same part was the person that took care of the wounded robbed man, cleaned his wounds, took him to a hospital and paid for all his Medical expenses. All this he did irrespective of their cutural difference.
This parable shows how important compassion is , irrespective of our social or cultural difference. This part of the Bible is like a challenge us to look beyond our prejudices and to extend help, love and kindness to every people, especially those who are suffering.
As a Christian, the show of kindness should not only stop within our Christian Brothers or sisters or those within our culture, we should also extend to the people that are suffering even though we have different religion and cultural views.
