Khulna is better known for this Sundarbans. Which is the largest forest in Bangladesh. And only our tiger mama can be seen in this Sundarbans. Maybe the name Sundarbans comes from a beautiful tree. Because there are plenty of beautiful trees here. Although there are many theories about making this name. Basically Sundarbans means a beautiful forest or jungle.
The Sundarbans is located on the coast of the Bay of Bengal in the south of Khulna district. This forest is famous in all countries of the world. The area of this forest is about 10 thousand square kilometers. The Sundarbans is also known as the Mangrove Forest. The Sundarbans extends not only to Khulna but also to Bagerhat, Satkhira districts and the 24 Parganas districts of India.
However, about 6,016 square kilometers of the entire Sundarbans belongs to Bangladesh. This forest is full of beautiful trees and beautiful trees. There are about 334 species of plants in this forest. Which Mr. Prain said in a 1903 book about the vegetation of the Sundarbans.
There are about 13 species of orchids and about 175 species of algae. Of the total 50 species of real plants in the world, there are 35 species in this Sundarbans. The most beautiful trees are found in this forest. Then there is Gewa. That is why Sundari and Gewa are called the main trees of Sundarban.
But Khulna is not only famous for this reason, there are many more reasons. There are many famous people living in this Khulna. This is the home of Rabindranath Tagore's father-in-law in Khulna. So he spent most of his life in this Khulna district.
