The Real Problem With Consuming Grains

So often we hear the question; what's the real problem with grains? Often the question is asked when someone has heard a friend say they can't eat grains or something about them being bad for you. While many people will say the real problem is the gluten in grains, others will say the real problem is the fact that wheat and barley are bad for you.

So then, how can you tell the real problem from what it isn't? For starters, many of the common grains out there in the market contain wheat, barley and oats. If you think about it for just a second, that's really pretty much all grains are, right? There's always wheat, and there're always barley and oats.

It seems that with all grain foods, the main problem comes with the fact that you have to count calories. With these types of foods, especially breads, you usually have to add in several extra calories to compensate for the fact that there is a whole lot more grain out there than wheat or barley. This of course is a big mistake, but it's one of the biggest mistakes people make in regards to dieting.

Carbohydrates are essential for our bodies. They provide fuel for our brains, muscles and nerves. However, we need them in a balanced way. For this reason, carbs are not the only things that should be consumed in your diet. In fact, you should include as many things that are good for your body as you can.

There is one real problem that comes with eating wheat and barley, though. Those types of grains tend to have a lot of gluten, which means that some people who have Celiac disease can suffer greatly when they consume them. So, if you have Celiac disease or have a family member who does, it's important to talk with them about this type of diet before you jump into it too quickly.

While there are plenty of foods out there that are good for you and can give you everything you need, the real problem is the fact that the body can't metabolize all of them. Therefore, you may end up getting the wrong amount of vitamins and minerals as well. That's why so many people have problems with low energy and sometimes weight gain.

The best way to avoid having to deal with this type of diet is to look into the supplements that are available, which are made specifically for people who have problems with these kinds of foods and for the types of people who are not genetically predisposed to Celiac disease. You may have to experiment with different types of supplements until you find one that will work best with your specific type of food sensitivity and other health issues.

There are a lot of diets out there that are good for those who are willing to take the time to do the research and find the diet that works best for them. Once you start following one of the better diets, you'll probably be surprised at how fast you lose weight and maintain it.
