Taking care of the Mental Health

in health •  last year

Today 10th of October is the World Mental Health Day. Ideally this day should be celebrated daily. I have always believed that our mental health is more important than our physical health also, because everything roots here, the problems and the solutions. If the mental health is not in good shape, then the physical health can also be a disaster.

Most of the problems in life are the problems of the mind. When the mind is not healthy it can waiver off and create problems like stress, anxieties, worries, depression and what not. One should never shy off to take help when they do not feel at their best mentally. In the past going to a psychiatrist was like a taboo. People would feel that if you go to a psychiatrist you possibly have some brain issues, which would be more or less termed as a sign of a mad person. But that's not the case anymore. But this is the reason that people still shy off to take help because they fear how their family and friends will judge them, possibly they will think he or she is mad. People sulk in their own pain and they do not open up themselves for help because of all of these social stigmas.

When depression hits then the best of the person can look insane, it is also important to empathize with such people because they are not doing anything with purpose, their elevated stress hormones are making them behave differently. A little stress, anxiety and fear is also good for the body because it triggers the basic survival mechanism within the brain that signals our bodies to respond to danger with a fight or flight response. This is required to understand our safety. But when something becomes more than normal then that's when attention is required.

These days even the social media has been playing a big role on the mental health. The influences of social media can leave one drained out mentally. One should never feel shy or scared to take help for mental wellness be it whoever you are. When we have fever, we do not hesitate to visit the doctor, similarly if we feel the fever in the brain then also, we should not hesitate to take help.

There are many natural ways to boost the mental health and we are all aware of them, they are very simple and yet very effective. Spending time in nature, grounding, walking, spending time on hobby, consuming healthy nutritious food, getting enough sleep, being with positive people all of these are some help tools for a optimal mental health.
