[Day 4} Distance Learning and Teleworking - 远程办公和学习

In this COVID-19 pandemic time, a lot of us force to stay home teleworking and distance learning. My family is in the same boat, and we have been home doing these things since the middle of March. Times pass so fast, and we kind of get used to, and these become our normal life either we like it or not.

Two of my daughters are in distance learning. One of them told me that she liked this kind of learning a lot. She enjoyed that no kids talking when the teacher was lecturing, no neighbors disturbed her as in the class, and she could more focus at home. She also told me that she could even learn more by herself due to she had more free time staying home without socializing with other kids. I teased her that she took over my whole living room and formal dinner room, and she only had a small desk at school.

My other daughter felt opposite. She said she preferred to go to school. She missed the time to hang out and had fun with her friends. When she had the music class and practiced her clarinet home by herself, she didn’t feel like in the class because they needed to play as the team sometimes. Also, she could ask around if she missed something in the class. One time she missed her assignment because the internet was down by couple minutes at the distance learning.

I was kind of person enjoying telework. I had no problem to finish my daily assignment on time; attending on-line meeting or sitting in the conference room were no different to me; saved one and half hours commute a day; saved money on gas and released less carbon emissions to the earth; mostly, staying with my family to go through this tough time.

My roommate preferred to work in the office though. He said he needed to work in a team environment with his coworkers. They needed to discuss the status of the project all the time and shared knowledge from other other. Also, all the equipment were in the lab, not at home, so he said he would not do the testing. I told him in this tough time we had to adjust.

In this pandemic time, either we liked it or not, we had no choice to telework and distance learning. From my opinion, I got to enjoy this kind of working because I asked for it and it wouldn’t approve before. At the end, I even did much more works at home.

在这段COVID-19大流行时期，我们许多人被迫留在家中进行远程办公和远程学习。我的家人在同一条船上，自3月中旬以来，我们一直在家里做这些事情。时光流逝如此之快，我们已经习惯了，不管我们喜不喜欢，这些都成为我们的正常生活。

我的两个女儿正在远程学习。其中一个告诉我，她非常喜欢这种学习。她很高兴在老师讲课时没有同学在乱说话，没有同学像在课堂上做一些干扰她的动作，而且她可以在家里更集中精神听课。 她还告诉我，由于她有更多的空闲时间在家而不需要与其他孩子交往，她甚至可以自己自学更多知识。

我的另一个女儿正好相反。她说她更喜欢上学。她错过了很多和朋友一起交流的时间。当她在家里上音乐课并独自练习单簧管的时候，她感觉有点不像在上课。另外，她可以问周围的同学如果错过了课堂上的某些内容。她有一次忘记做了她的作业，因为网络有问题而有几分钟没有听到老师的讲课。

我是喜欢远程办公的人。我可以按时完成日常任务，没有任何问题。参加在线会议对我来说没什么不同，每天上下班节省一个半小时，节省了车油费用，并减少了向地球排放的碳。而且我在家办公最大的好处是我和我的家人一起度过这个艰难的时期。

我的室友还是喜欢在办公室工作。他说他需要与同事在团队环境中一起工作。他们需要经常讨论项目的状态，并分享其他人的知识。另外，所有设备都在实验室中，而不是在家中，因此他说他在家不能进行测试。

在这个瘟疫大流行时期，无论我们喜不喜欢，我们都没有选择而只能远程办公和远程学习。如果以前我向我的上司争取远程办公，他是不会批准的。当瘟疫结束时，我就不知道以后办公会变得怎么了。因这个疫情我的工作量变得越来越多，现在大家都在家办公，而我也少了一点下属的打扰，在家办公正好有更多的时间去处理事情和可以更专心工作，而另到工作更有效率。
