Halloween has been part of society's calendar for years. The concept today is full of hauntingly fun attractions and antics that make for a spooky time of the year. Things go bump in the night and we can see many nightclubs, restaurants and other places run themed events inline with Halloween.
So where did it all start? The holiday stems from an old Caeltic festival named Samhain. The general ritual would see bonfires used to ward off spirits and costumes were worn for similar effect. You may be surprised but Halloween has a meaning its name, "Saint's Evening". In 835 it would be added to the calendar of the Church.
