God's want to be among His creation is evident from the very beginning of the Bible. Despite the beliefs of some cultures that the world is dominated by an uncaring, distant force, He made us in His image so that we would be in connection with Him. Our main objective has always been to exalt God and enjoy Him eternally, even from our lowly origins recorded in Genesis. Naturally, we already know in Genesis 3 what happens as soon as we are granted freedom. We decide to turn away from grace and betray God. God has done everything in His power to make peace between the world and Himself ever since the famous encounter between Adam and Eve in the garden. He extracts meaning from our indifference and despondency. Everything is renewed by him.

The scenario with Abraham and Sarah above is an ideal illustration of how a marriage can successfully negotiate the "desert" of life. God had earlier assured them that they would bear fruit and experience blessings. Abraham and Sarah must have been battling a lot of difficult feelings after a protracted period of infertility. Be it loneliness, rage, sorrow, guilt, or doubt. They persisted in waiting on the Lord and clinging to hope nevertheless.

To put it mildly, God's original plan to save humanity after Adam and Eve's fall was improbable. Instead than using armies or angels to accomplish His purpose on earth, He starts by blessing a family. I adore this. It's incredibly intimate, straightforward, and heartwarming, and it demonstrates God's love for His people. Now, since this is a recurring theme throughout Scripture, it is imperative that we pay attention to it. He will bless every family on the planet by first blessing one.

We are so sometimes referred to as "children of Abraham" or "children of God." One family encompasses all of us. Yes, we are God's offspring, but that doesn't mean we have to keep this wonderful news to ourselves and live comfortably. No, it is our duty to bless others as well.

God was always aware of what He was doing, as the Scripture above demonstrates. He anticipated keeping His word to Abraham and his family, guiding them through a difficult time of adversity and obscurity, and ultimately bringing about the fulfillment of His promise. Following that chapter in their lives, Abraham and Sarah would become stronger than before. For this specific promise to be fulfilled, it took 25 years. That is quite some time! particularly in the case of desert dwellers. Throughout the rest of the Bible, God puts people He uses for His great redeeming mission to the test, and this is a recurring motif. Consider figures like the Apostle Paul, David, Moses, Noah, and so forth.

God never said that living a life in His service would be simple. Actually, it necessitates a lot of waiting. Sure, there were the significant years when God would have a major influence and reveal Himself, but there were other days that were just difficult. These years are known as their obscurity because they were meaningless, ineffective, and perplexing. You can only imagine how painful it must have been for them to wait on the Lord, yet not much information has been recorded about this.

Today, I want to give you encouragement. You are not alone if you're going through a difficult time or feel like you're living in the middle of nowhere. You have never in your life experienced loneliness. Even though you can't see it right now, God is with you. Furthermore, He has more ambitious plans in motion to save you. If you keep your eyes firmly fixed on Jesus, you will never be separated from Him, even in the midst of trials that would shake you to your very core. You will ultimately come out of the desert stronger than when you first entered it. You'll share the story of how God blessed you and saw you through your darkest moments.
