In the interests of greening Blurt by supporting and promoting garden content, we thought Thursdays were a good place to start, joining in the #colorchallenge of green on this day of the week. We will be highlighting the best of garden content, from flowers to cannabis, permaculture to succulents and indoor plants, herbs and everything in between!
Use the tags #gardendiary and #blurtgardens to increase your chances of being seen and curated by us.
We would like to think we are a curation with a difference, so each week one lucky garden lover will win 2 Blurt from us! We will also promote the best on Twitter under our account @gardenblurt, so go give us a follow. What are you waiting for? Tidy up your gardens and get posting!
This Week On Blurt
The sun is definitely shining in the northern hemisphere and many Europeans are out enjoying both private and public gardens. You don't have to plant a garden to enjoy a garden, or indeed, the beautiful plants that nature offers. @vesytz was out picking thyme with friends and the London meet up enjoyed good coffee in lovely gardens too, especially ones that use their produce in the cafe.
Take note of @offgridlife's sunflower seeds, because in a few months time I'm sure we'll be seeing the flowers blossom all over Blurt. They are propagating them on wet cotton wool, much as you do cannabis seeds. Has anyone else tried this method?
On Mondays we have a mini challenge going which gives you three days to post on a topic. This week's topic was 'FAVOURITE' and @ycgg talked of theirs - the deliciously scented basil. We imagine alot of basil is being planted now in the north, ready for harvest pesto! @petrapurple couldn't decide on one, but her choices were lilacs, elderflowers (elderflower cordial, anyone?), pink princess (pictured below), tulips and yew trees. What are your favourites? Comment below for an upvote. Then we know you read this post :P
@outlinez assembled a mini greenhouse - not everyone can afford a glass one and these are viable solutions. Do you have a greenhouse at all? How do you keep your seedlings warm and protected early in the season?
Do check out this really detailed post by @leifasaur. He talks about meeting a friend who had the Green Zion Gardens in Ghana and the effort gone into making a place for travellers. Check out the mad grasshopper below!
And of course, every garden needs a hammock to rest in, right? I think @adetorrent needed one of these to rest in after dealing with fox poop in his garden in 30 degree British heat. What about you?
There's been lots of spectacular flowers under the #flowerphotography and #colorchallenge tags. Add a little more detail and use the #gardendiary tag to be curated here and win the weekly curation Blurt prize! The favourite flowers this week were from @ultravioletmag (left) and @milaoz (right). Just lovely!
As #gardendiary #blurtgardens get known on Blurt, we hope to feature some pretty awesome gardens and garden related posts here. Please reblurt this post if you can and let people know we're around. Do try to write a #gardendiary post if you have a #garden, or even if you raise one single plant on your windowsill, visit a friend's garden or talk about your #gardening dreams.
Each week we'll award a little Blurt to the Blurt #gardendiary tagged post we love the most. It's always hard to decide! This week's recipient is @leifasaur - his half garden, half travel post was interesting and well written. It was inspiring to think about what one can do with a bit of land when enough love and enthusiasm is put into a vision. It doesn't matter whether it's a rooftop terrace garden, a windowsill or a native bushblock, it's still a loved garden, and one could do worse than nurturing a bit of nature, don't you think?
Hoping to see LOTS of garden related content this week, and don't forget, your delegation, however small, is the fertiliser that encourages more #gardening content on HIVE!
