Recently, I have bought the game Project Zomboid on Steam and put in a few hours on it with my sister. The game is a rogue-like zombie survival game with RPG elements where you must survive for as long as possible. Project Zomboid is still currently in development, so at this time, it costs roughly 15$. The game is quite hard at first, but you'll get used to it quickly.
The game throws you right in after a short tutorial that teaches you how to play the basics of the game, but it doesn't teach you everything about the game. Everything else that isn't taught during the tutorial is something you're going to have to figure out yourself, or you can search for it online. I recommend trying to play the game without searching online, at least for a few hours.
When you enter a "Solo" game, you can choose a few options from your starting area, such as choosing from a few cities, at varying difficulties. I decided to play "7 Weeks Later" on Normal mode to make it easy on myself but not too easy before playing the "Recommended" version. So far, I haven't played any other game mode.
Jumping into it, the game throws you in a random location (typically a home) where you start to gather your resources. There aren't many zombies around, depending on your city and starting location. Sometimes the things you have in your home are hit or miss; Some contain great items (which makes the beginning easier), other times you'll need to find some essentials by heading to a neighbor's home.
The only NPC's you'll find on the map are just other zombies. Some zombies are fast, some are slow and there are no "super zombies" like what games such as Left 4 Dead have. It gives the game a somewhat realistic feel.
The game is good at making the player of the game feel isolated and alone especially as time goes on. There is so much to do and at the same time so little to do depending on your play style. This is the kind of game that you can always keep coming back to play a new story.
So far, I do like the game. I intend on doing a live stream or at least making a video of my playthrough soon. The game also offers multi-player. I may get some people to play with me too. I've seen other YouTubers play with a team which makes things easier or hard depending on if your "team" is a team. Surviving has no favorites.
Try the game out if you get a chance!
