This is a repost of something I wrote a year or so ago over on Facebook. While it's maybe a little less timely, since there's no 20th anniversary for the console looming anymore, it's still got a bunch of great memories for me.
There was a question I heard elsewhere of what's your favorite #Dreamcast game. The Dreamcast had so many good games, many of which were new and different or pushed the envelope in some way that it's hard to pick. In no particular order I present my top 7 favorite Dreamcast games:
Soulcalibur: Great fighting game mechanics, awesome diversity in the cast both in terms of costumes and fighting styles. Lots of great memories fighting my friends.
Dead or Alive 2: I got really good at the counter mechanic and used it to absolutely crush my friends.
NFL 2K1: I don't want to think about how much time I spent playing this game, but it was a fantastically fun football game that didn't try to make things too complicated like more recent Madden games.
Sonic Adventure: While it's very different from the 16-bit Sonic games, it was still a blast to play through and contained a variety of play styles.
Capcom vs SNK 2: Mixing fighting mechanics from so many different games together and coming out with something that's almost balanced is no small feat. Lots of fun here, but I never got to play other humans just the AI.
GigaWing: I don't think I ever actually beat this game, but boy I sure tried. Great shooter with good graphics and effects combined with a unique "shield" mechanic to make the bullet spam survivable.
Seventh Cross Evolution: Another game I never beat, and I wish it was more like EVO, but I kept coming back to it for its weird and unique mix of mechanics.
I played this game for a long time.
Wasn't the Tengu mask a boss?
I loved the Dreamcast. I had Bass Fishing with the fishing rod controller. Such a ridiculous game really!

I missed that one - fishing games aren't my jam - but the Dreamcast had a lot of unique games, or unique takes on familiar genres.
The Dreamcast lives on through emulators!
Fortunately I still have mine. :D
