I never liked Civilization.
I played it once in 2001th, but I think it's not mine. But I know a dude who LOOOOOVE this game. He play it all the time since 1998.
I played the original on a Mac LC back in 1993. Personally I think since IV the AI has gotten way too heavy and slow to be fun. Even on a Ryzen 7 1900 Civ V and IV were games that took too long. It's most likely because python AI.
Dam a month or so ago you could have got a free copy on epic store. they give games away all the time
damn... well, right now it's $15... I am gonna miss it though. I bought STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl on special, I was itching to get it for months and then w000t $7. Best seven bux I ever spent.
I have had a little play with it. I was hoping the AI had been optimised compared to civ4 and 5, (civ4 uses python AI, btw, if you are into ML). Nope, too slow for my 110 euro second hand old laptop. Hopefully when I have a good enough computer to play it, I don't mind the 60 bux to buy it. It looks like fun.
